Afternoon tea at Honey Salt at Parq Vancouver.
I love that this tea service feels like a meal, colorful and balanced. Many afternoon teas err on the side of too many sweets, but this one has a great ratio of sweet to savory, plus a side of roasted greens for virtue.
Take a seat and let’s dig in…
xFirst the tea, options from Dammann Frères. Twelve offered hot and two iced.
Savories on the bottom tier:
- Classic cucumber and dill
- BC wild stripe shrimp roll
- Open face smoked salmon
- Montreal smoked meat
Miniature popovers are on the middle. Warm and wonderful…
…and meant to be paired with sides of oolong smoked chicken and roasted vegetable ratatouille.
The scones on the top tier (served with housemade strawberry preserves and clotted cream). Also on this tier:
- Salted honey pie
- Shortbread (one each of lemon and lavender)
- Chocolate bouchon
But wait! Tea is not over quiet yet. There’s the Honey Salt ‘Mini’ Market, a baby bounty of vegetables with green goddess dip. There are charcoaled beets and turnips, pickled vegetables, cauliflower, crispy kalettes, radishes, heirloom carrots, and sweet potato chips.
xAnd for the finale, you can pick from one of three crêpe options:
- Strawberry with lemon whipped ricotta
- Pandan with red bean, mango, and coconut
- Chocolate and banana
I got the pandan, of course ^-^
We’ll be back soon again.
