Hawaii | Timeless Afternoon Tea at Moana Surfrider

Afternoon tea for two onĀ Moana Surfrider’s 117th birthday.

For just one afternoon, the hotel replaced haupia cakes and lilikoi curd with a classic menu of afternoon tea sweets and savories. Want to take a look?

First, tea (this is the Veranda Breeze – black tea with Big Island vanilla and caramel)…

…and then champagne.

Now we eat:

  • Cucumber and watercress with sea salt and herb butter
  • Smoked salmon, whipped cream cheese and capers on marbled rye
  • Egg salad and fine herbs
  • Roasted turkey, kula spinach, Boursin

Raisin scones with lemon curd and Devonshire cream

Onto the sweets:

  • Opera cake
  • Chocolate Eclair
  • Lemon macaron
  • Fruit tart
  • Madeline

And then Chef David sent out the best afternoon tea dessert…braised wagyu short rib katsu sandwiches ^-^
