Tokyo | Afternoon Tea at Imperial Hotel

The Imperial Hotel in Tokyo does seasonal afternoon teas…

…want to take a look at the winter menu?

First, a cup of Darjeeling…

…and the Royal Chocolate Milk Tea.

An amuse of taro-chicken flan and a tomato-parmesan soup.

The bottom tier features…

…mustard, potato, and bacon quiche…

…and a quartet of sandwiches. Egg salad, tomato, smoked salmon, and ham.

Middle tier…

…petit pie of salmon mousse…

…and shrimp and avocado focaccia sandwich.

Warm scones. One chocolate and one plain…

…to go with honey, clotted cream, and blueberry jam.

A switch to the Oriental Tea (a house blend)…getting ready for the dessert portion of tea.

Wasabon pudding (my favorite item from this afternoon tea)

Kumquat tart

And a few mignardises. Caramel bonbon, pistachios, and candied almond.

Sparkling strawberry tea to finish.
